Mikrofibrilski-pridruženi protein 5 je protein koji je kod ljudi kodiran genom MFAP5 .[ 5] [ 6] [ 7]
Ovaj gen kodira glikoprotein od 25-kD, povezan s mikrofibrilama koji je bogat ostacima serina i treonina . Nedostaju mu hidrofobne regije C-krajevi bogati prolinom , glutaminom i tirozinom , što je karakteristika srodnog glikoproteina povezanog s mikrofibrilom od 31 kDa (MFAP2). Bliska sličnost između ova dva proteina ograničena je na centralno područje od 60 aminokiselina, gdje dolazi do preciznog poravnanja sedam ostataka cisteina . Strukturne razlike ukazuju na to da ovaj kodirani protein ima neke funkcije koje se razlikuju od funkcija MFAP2.[ 7]
Dužina polipeptidnog lanca je 173 aminokiseline , a molekulska težina 19.612 Da .[ 8] .
