• She is named afterKasuga Shrine.Her name on remodel means "Big Eagle".
• She was launched on the 19th of September 1940, as aNitta Maru-class cargo liner.
• Sunk by the submarine USS Rasher off Cape Bolinao, Luzon, on the 18th of August 1944.
