Ecotec(capitalized ECOTEC, from "Emissions Control Optimization TEChnology" ) is aGeneral Motors(GM) andOpel Automobile GmbH(Opel) trademark that refers to a series of emissions technologies that were implemented throughout a range of GM engines. ECOTEC can refer to the following diesel and petrol engines originally produced by General Motors:

• EcotecFamily 0–straight-fourDOHCengines produced byAdam Opel AGand GM Powertrain US.
• EcotecFamily 1–straight-fourSOHC/DOHCengines produced byAdam Opel AG,GM Korea,andGM do Brasil.
• EcotecFamily II–straight-fourSOHC/DOHCengines produced byAdam Opel AG,Holden,andGM do Brasil.
• EcotecL850– straight-four all-aluminiumDOHC engines produced byAdam Opel AG,GM Powertrain US, andSaab Automobile Powertrain AB.
• Ecotec V6– a version of theSeries II 3800 V6engine, produced by theHolden Engine Companybetween 1995 and 2004.
• CDTI(Common RailDieselTurboIntercooled)Ecotec–common raildiesel enginesforOpel/Vauxhallcars:
  • Originally designed and produced byFiat(MultiJet) and currently produced by Adam Opel AG. Also produced byIsuzu(Circle L).
• VCDi Ecotec–common raildiesel enginesforChevroletandHoldencars, produced byGM Korea(a licensedVM MotoriRA 420 SOHCandFamily Z).
• DTI / DI(DieselTurboIntercooled)Ecotec– diesel engines for use in Opel/Vauxhall cars, produced byIsuzu(Circle L).
  • Originally designed and produced by General Motors (GM Ecotec Diesel), replaced byIsuzu(Circle L) andFiat(MultiJet) engines.
• SIDI(SparkIgnitionDirectInjection)Ecotec– petrolMedium Gasoline Engineproduced byAdam Opel AG.
• EcoTec3is the name used onGeneral Motors' Small Block Gen 5 Engines.All include direct injection, cylinder deactivation, and continuously variable valve timing, either inV6form of 4.3L or V8 form of either 5.3L or 6.2L.

The trademarkECOTEChas also been used on Opel automobiles which are powered by the following engines produced byPSA PowerTrain:

• EB:The ECOTEC trademark is used on theOpel Crossland XandOpel Grandland Xequipped with the 110 hp variant (Crossland X) and 130 hp variant (Grandland X) of PSA's EB petrol engine. Lower-powered variants of this engine lack an engine designation, while higher-powered variants (for Crossland X) are designated asTURBO.
