Early life and career
editJacob Leif Stormoen was born inMinneapolis,Minnesota,US.[1]to parents of Norwegian descent. Stormoen grew up in Minneapolis along with his younger sister Anna Stormoen.[1]After graduating from high school in the U.S, he enrolled at theUniversity of Southern QueenslandinToowoomba,[2]Queensland,Australia,[1]where he obtained a Bsc Arts in Creative Media.[1]After being a waiter for 6 months, he returned to the United States, to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in acting.[3]Stormoen is friends withKristian Nairn,the actor who plays Hodor inGame of Thrones,[4]the friendship developed online whilst in High school, playingWorld of Warcraft(WoW).[4]Stormoen later co-starred with Nairn in the Kurt Knight horror thriller filmThe Appearancein 2018.[5]In 2015, Stormoen won the 'Best Supporting Actor' award at the Utah Film Festival for his performance as Airk in the fantasy filmThe Christmas Dragon.[6]Apart from acting, he has also worked as a writer and associate producer in a couple of short films.[1]
In 2014, Stormoen landed his first “major” role as Dagen in the Arrowstorm fantasy-adventure drama filmMythica: A Quest for Heroes,[7]a franchise where he starred in 4 more films,Mythica: The NecromancerandMythica: The Darksporein 2015,[7]thenMythica: The GodslayerandMythica: The Iron Crownin 2016.[1]Stormoen's inherent love for and being a life-long fan of fantasy and science fiction, is the main reason why he enjoys working for the Utah-based production company, Arrowstorm Entertainment, because they specialise in that genre.[8]
In 2018, Stormoen continued his success with Arrowstorm Entertainment in a lead role as Captain Garret Spears inThe CW's fantasy-adventure drama television seriesThe Outpost,alongsideJessica GreenandAnand Desai-Barochia.[9][10]The CWannounced that series 3 ofThe Outpostwill be extended by a further 13 episodes in 2020.[11]In 2023, he directedMythica: Stormbound,the sixth film in theMythica_(film_series).
