Herrera started his club career atMonagas SCbefore moving toAtlético Venezuelain 2016.[3]

Manchester City

Loan to New York City

On 31 January 2017 it was confirmed that Herrera had signed forManchester City.[4]Herrera was immediately sent toNew York Cityon a two-year loan.[5][6]He made his debut on 12 March, as a substitute in a 4–0 win overD.C. United.[7]

Loan to Huesca

Following the conclusion of his two-year stay at New York City, Herrera was loaned toLa LigasideHuescafor the last six months of the 2018–19 season.[8]

Loan to Granada

On 26 July 2019, Herrera was loaned toGranadafor the 2019–20 season.[9]On 30 August 2020, his loan was extended for the2020–21 season.[10]

Loan to Espanyol

On 31 August 2021, Herrera moved to fellow La Liga sideEspanyolon a one-year loan deal.[11]

Girona

On 2 August 2022, Herrera joined newly promoted sideGirona,on a season-long loan.[12]He made his debut for the club on the first matchday of the2022–23 seasonin a 1–0 away loss toValencia.[13]On 7 January 2023, he scored his first goal for Girona, securing a late 2–2 equalizer against his former club Espanyol.[14]

On 14 July 2023, Herrera signed a permanent four-year contract with Girona.[15]

International career

Herrera made his international debut for theVenezuela national teamon 10 October 2016, coming on as a substitute in a 2–0 loss toBrazil.[16]

Herrera was named captain of theVenezuela U20team for the 2017U-20 World Cup.He scored the only goal, in the 108th minute of their Round of 16 win overJapan.[17]
