editShe is the founding director ofObsidian Theatre,a company that specializes inAfrican-Canadiandrama.[1]Smith was awarded aDora Mavor Moore Awardfor her 1997 star turn inDjanet Sears'Harlem Duet.
Her film and television credits have included the seriesStreet Legal,This is WonderlandandThe Line,and a recurring role inKevin Hill.She also had a small role in the 1998 filmMy Date with the President's Daughter.
