Natasha Hassanandani[3](born 14 April 1981), professionally known asAnita Hassanandani,is an Indian actress who predominantly works inHindiandTelugufilms andHinditelevision. She made her acting debut in the television seriesIdhar Udhar(1998) and had her film debut with the Telugu filmNuvvu Nenu(2001), a commercial success. Hassanandani is recognised for her portrayal of Anjali Salve Nanda in Kkavyanjali,Sanchi Virani inKyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi,Shagun Arora Raghav inYeh Hai Mohabbateinand Vishakha inNaagin 3.

Early life
editHassanandani was born as Natasha Hassanandani, into aSindhi Hindufamily[4][5]inBombay(nowMumbai) on 14 April 1981.[6][7]
Career
editDebut and success in South Indian films (1998-2004)
editHassanandani made her acting debut with the television seriesIdhar Udharin 1998, where she played Anushka. It was followed by a special appearance in the Hindi filmTaal,in 1999. In 2000, she appeared in the seriesHare Kanch Ki Choodiyan.[8]Hassanandani made her film debut with the Telugu filmNuvvu Nenuin 2001 oppositeUday Kiran.The film emerged a commercial success.[9]Jeevi ofIdlebrainnoted, "Anita looks the part and gives a decent performance."[10]From 2001 to 2002, she played Tanushree inKabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii.[11]
In 2002, Hassanandani appeared in four films. She first made her Tamil film debut withVarushamellam VasanthamoppositeManoj Bharathiraja.[12]Malathi Rangarajan ofThe Hindustated, "Anita, the new find, looks charming, with expressive eyes."[13]Her other releases that year were:SamuraiwithVikram,[14]Sreeramwith Uday Kiran andThotti GangwithPrabhu Deva.[15]
Hassanandani expanded to Hindi films in 2003 withKucch To HaioppositeTusshar Kapoor,which was a box office failure.[16]Her next release,Yeh Dil,reunited her with Tusshar Kapoor but failed at the box office too. Priya Ganapati ofRediff.comstated that she gave a "reasonably good performance".[17]Her performance in both these films earned her nomination forZee Cine Award for Best Female Debut.[18]Following this, Hassanandani appeared in three Telugu films:Ninne Ishtapaddanu,Aadanthe Ado TypewithAryan Rajesh,[19]andNenu Pelliki ReadywithSrikanth.A critic fromThe Hinduwas appreciative of her performance in the latter. Haa started 2004 with the seriesLavanya,where she played Samira and had a special appearance inNenunnanu.[21]Following this, she played the lead oppositeSohail KhaninKrishna Cottage.[22]Shilpa Bharatan Iyer ofRediff.comstated, "Natassha has done reasonable jobs with the script she have been given."[23]In her last release of the year, she played the lead oppositePuneeth RajkumarinVeera Kannadiga,her Kannada debut. Television breakthrough and career expansion (2005–2012)
editHassanandani's career marked a turning point in 2005, withKkavyanjali.She played Anjali "Anjum" Salve Nanda, a middle-class girl marrying into a business tycoon's family opposite Rakshak Sahni andEijaz Khan.[26]The series earned her success and she won theIndian Telly Award for Best Actressfor her performance.[27][28]In the same year, she appeared in the Tamil filmSukranwithRavi Krishna,and the Hindi filmsSilsiilayandKoi Aap Sa.[29][30]InKoi Aap Sa,Hassanandani played a rape survivor oppositeAftab Shivdasani.Taran Adarshnoted: "After making an impact inSilsiilayearlier this year, Natassha gets an author-backed role and the actor is only getting better, more dependable. In 2009, Hassanandani hostedComedy Circus Ka Jadoo.Her only film release of the year wasEk Se Bure DooppositeArshad Warsi.[37]She then played the lead Anahita Mallik inAnhoniyon Ka Andhera,from 2010 to 2011. editHassanandani established herself among the leading actresses of Hindi television with her portrayal of Shagun Arora Raghav inYeh Hai MohabbateinoppositeSumeet SachdevandKaran Patel.[43]She played the character from 2013 to 2019 and earned four consecutiveGold Award for Best Actress in a Negative Rolefor her performance.[44][45]In 2013, she also played Sanya Nair inMadhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoonand appeared in the first episode ofYeh Hai Aashiquias a married woman who falls in love with her student.[46]She then made her Punjabi film debut withYaaran Da Katchupin 2014 and in the same year she appeared inRagini MMS 2,which was a box office success.[47]
Hassanandani hostedCode Redin 2015. That year, she participated inJhalak Dikhhla Jaa 8as a wild card.[48]Following this, she appeared in the Hindi filmHero.[49]AlongsideYeh Hai Mohabbatein,she continued to play supporting parts inBahu Hamari Rajni Kant,TrideviyaanandSajan Re Phir Jhooth Mat Bolo.In 2016, she played a professor's wife inManalo OkkaduoppositeR. P. Patnaik.The film was a moderate success.[50]A critic from123telugustated, "Anita makes a comeback and is perfect in her role. From 2018 to 2019, Hassanandani played Vishakha, a shape-shifting serpent inNaagin 3oppositeRajat Tokas.[52][53]She received praises for her performance and earned several accolades.[54]She made her web debut in 2018 withGalti Se Mis-Tech,playing a married woman caught in technological glitches oppositeRithvik Dhanjani.[55]Sana Farzeen ofThe Indian Expresswas appreciative of her chemistry with Dhanjani and her portrayal.[56]In 2019,she also participated inNach Baliye 9with her husband and emerged as the first runner-up.[57]In 2020, she reprised her role as Vishakha inNaagin 4.[58]
Hiatus and comeback (2021–present)
editFollowing a small hiatus due to her pregnancy, Hassanandani made her comeback with the Hindi filmMaarrichopposite Tusshar Kapoor, where she played a police officer's wife.[59]
Hassanandani returned to television after three years withHum Rahe Na Rahe Hum,where she played Roshni Sahni oppositeJay Bhanushali.[60]Since September 2024, she is seen portraying Devika Gupta Mittal inSuman Indoriopposite Aman Sharma.[61]
Personal life
editHassanandani married corporate professional Rohit Reddy inGoaon 14 October 2013.[62]On 10 October 2020, she announced her pregnancy in an Instagram video featuring Reddy and herself.[63]The couple had their first child, a boy, on 9 February 2021.[64][65]They named their son as Aaravv Reddy.[66]
