Asami Tano(Điền dã アサミ,Tano Asami,born 12 February 1987)is a Japanese actress fromAmagasaki.She is affiliated withAmuse Inc.[1]Tano was part of thegirl groupBoystyle from 2001 to 2007. Her voice acting career began withTorikoin 2011, and she has starred in several anime such asSmile PreCure,Francesca,Love Live! Sunshine!!,andZombie Land Saga.She has also appeared in the theatrical productions ofPersona 3: The Weird Masquerade,Persona 4 Arena,Blue Exorcist,Kuroko's Basketball,andThe Seven Deadly Sins.

Asami Tano, a native ofAmagasaki,was born on 12 February 1987.[2]She was a originally a member of the idol groupBOYSTYLE.[3]

In 2011, her first anime role was inToriko,voicing a character named Rin.[4]In 2012, she voiced Akane Hino/Cure Sunny inSmile PreCure!,the ninth season of thePretty Curefranchise;.[5]In an interview two years later, Tano described it as the start of her voice acting career.[4]In 2018, she reprised herPretty Curerole alongside the other fifty-four Pretty Cures in the crossover filmHugtto! PreCure Futari wa Pretty Cure: All Stars Memories,which was certified as having the "Most Magical Warriors in an Anime Film" byGuinness World Records.[6]

In January 2014, she starred asMitsuru Kirijoin the stage musicalPersona 3: The Weird Masquerade;[7]she reprised the role in both thePersona 4 Arenastage play[8]andPersona 4 Ultimax Song Project.[9]On 3 April 2018, Tano was cast as Guila in the stage adaptation ofThe Seven Deadly Sins.On 28 July 2018, it was announced that Tano would cease performing at the stage production to recover fromthyroid disease;[10]the role of Guila was substituted by actress Haneyuri.[11]She also played Mamushi Hojo in the stage adaptation ofBlue Exorcist,Live Act Ao no Exorcist ~Mashin no Rakuin~,[12]and Riko Aida in the stage adaptation ofKuroko's Basketball,Kuroko's Basketball The Encounter[13]

In February 2014, she was cast as Exorcist inFrancesca,an anime centered on the titular idol based inHokkaido Prefecture,alongside the titular main character's voice actressYui Makino.[14]In April 2014, she was cast inSega Hard GirlsasGenesis.[15]HerSword Art Online IIcharacter Nori sang the song "Sleepless Legend" for theSAO II Song Collection,which was released on 22 March 2017.[16]She voiced Sarah Kazuno inLove Live! Sunshine!!,who is part of the subunit duo Saint Snow alongside Leah Kazuno (voiced by Hinata Satō).[17]She voices Aki Saotome in thethird-person shootervideo gameBullet Girls.[18]

On 10 September 2018, Tano was cast as Saki Nikaido inZombie Land Saga,an anime byCygamesandMAPPA.[19]Tano was interviewed byRolling StoneJapanalongside her co-starsKaede Hondo,Minami TanakaandMamoru Miyano.[20]She also appeared at theZombie Land Sagapanel atCrunchyrollExpo 2019.[3]In her July 2019 interview withAnime! Anime!following the anime's collaboration withGrimoire A: Shiritsu Grimoire Mahou Gakuen,Tano mentioned that, during recording, she was given assistance to use theSaga dialectto reprise her character.[21]

On 13 December 2021, she announced her marriage to actorRyō Kitamura[ja].[22]On 12 December 2022, she announced the birth of her first child[23]
