TheBuffalo–Niagara Falls Metropolitan statistical areais ametropolitan area,designated by theUnited States Census Bureau,encompassing two counties -ErieandNiagara- in the state ofNew York.It has a population of over 1.1 million people and is thesecond-largest metropolitan areain the state. As of the 2020 US. census, themetropolitan statistical area(MSA) had a population of 1,166,902. The largerBuffalo Niagara Regionis an economic zone consisting of eight counties inWestern New York.
