Cesar Pietersz,orCesar Boetius van Everdingen(1616/17 – buried 13 October 1678), older brother ofAllart van Everdingenand Jan van Everdingen, was aDutch Golden Ageportraitand historypainter.

He was born inAlkmaarand educated inUtrecht,where he learned to paint fromJan Gerritsz van Bronckhorst.[1][2]Caesar became a member of the painter's guild inAlkmaarin 1632.[2]His first known painting dates from 1636.[2]In 1648 he moved toHaarlem,where he joined theHaarlem Guild of St. Lukeand the civic guard (orschutterij) there, where he metJacob van Campen.[2]From 1648 to 1650 He helped him with the decoration of theOranje Zaal(Orange room) inHuis ten Bosch.In 1658 he moved back to Alkmaar where he started a workshop and took on pupils.[2]He died and was buried in the Grote- or St. Laurenskerk in Alkmaar.

Many of his pictures are to be seen in the museums and private houses of theNetherlands,with several on display at theStedelijk Museum Alkmaar.His pupils wereJan Theunisz Blanckerhoff,Adriaen Dekker,Hendrik Graauw,andThomas Heeremans.[2]Houbraken also lists two other pupils; Adriaen Warmenhuizen, and Laurens Oosthoorn.[1]The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid owns a Vertumnus and Pomonac. 1637–1640.[3]
