Born inFlorence,she graduated inhumanitieswith a thesis in literaryhermeneutics.

After her graduation, she underwent a three-year theatre course inFlorence,at the Teatro della Limonaia, directed by Barbara Nativi, under whose direction she played a role inPeanuts,written byFausto Paravidino.For two consecutive years she acted in Faccia da comico under the artistic direction ofSerena Dandiniat theAmbra Jovinellitheatre inRome.She got into television throughMarco Giusti,who offered her a role inBlablablaandStracult.

She then had a part inRagazze di San Frediano,directed byVittorio Sindoniand in 2007 she was Marcia Meniconi, one of the protagonists ofGente di mare 2.In 2008, she played a major role in the sitcomRadio Sex,directed byAlessandro Baracco.

Between 2007 and 2008 she took part in four movies:Leonardo Pieraccioniwanted her for the role of Giustina inA Beautiful Wife,Francesco Patiernochose her forIl mattino ha l'oro in bocca,Spike Lee,after casting her personally, had her play Fabiola, one of the victims of theNazi massacre of Sant'Anna di Stazzema,inMiracle at St. Annaand finally in 2008Stefano Tummolinioffered her the role of Stella inUn altro pianeta(Eng.:One Day in a Life), a film shown at the 2008Venice Film Festival,where it was awarded theQueer Lion,and at theSundance Film Festivalin 2009.

In 2009, she acted in the televisionminiseriesLe segretarie del sesto piano,directed byAngelo Longoni,and in the movieFeisbum!,directed byEmanuele Sana.

In 2010, she appeared in the television seriesTutti pazzi per amore 2,directed byRiccardo Milani,in which she played the character of Bea, and in thefilm noirLa donna velata,directed byEdoardo Margheriti.

In 2010 and 2011, she played Martha inMaschi contro femmine(Males vs Females) andFemmine contro maschi(Females vs Males), both directed byFausto Brizzi.

In 2011, she acted inC'è chi dice no(Eng. title:Some Say No), directed byGiambattista Avellino,Cacao,directed byLuca Rea,andAmici miei come tutto ebbe inizio,directed byNeri Parenti.

In 2011, Francini was awarded theBiraghi Prizeas "Shooting Star of the year"atthe 68th Venice Film Festival,given by theItalian National Syndicate of Film Journalists.

In 2011, she was part of the main cast in the television programmeColoradobroadcast by Italia 2. That same year she also acted inLa peggior settimana della mia vita(English title:The Worst Week of My Life), directed byAlessandro Genovesiand inUn natale per due,a SKY Cinema production, which had the highest share ever recorded on the Italian SKY network, directed byGiambattista Avellinowhere apart from having a major role she also performedCarmenbyBizet.

Finally that year, she returned to Rai 1 to once again embody the character of Bea inTutti pazzi per amore 3,directed byLaura Muscardin.

In 2012, she acted in the television mini-seriesNero Wolfedirected byRiccardo Donnaand broadcast by Rai 1.

In 2011, she was chosen as a spokesperson forDolce&Gabbanain their men's SS2012 world campaign.
