Life and career
editBorn in Rome, Gerini won the National Competition of Miss Teenager in 1985. She got her first part in a film,La ballata di Eva,at 14. She subsequently played inCiao mà,Roba da ricchiandNight Club,bySergio Corbucci,and many others. At 19 she worked for the popular TV showNon è la Rai,a sort of academy with one hundred girls singing, dancing and gaming.
Gerini's first major role was inIl padre e il figlio,directed byPasquale Pozzessere.She later moved toParisto learnFrenchfor several months, travelling a lot betweenItalyandFrancewithout leaving off University. At 22 she returned toItalyand got a role as protagonist inAngelo e Beatrice,a theatrical work byFrancesco Apolloni(writer and director) presented on the stage at the Theater Coliseum inRome,where director and actorCarlo Verdonenoticed her. The encounter with Verdone producedViaggi di nozzeandI'm Crazy About Iris Blond,both Christmas box-office successes.
Gerini later collaborated withLeonardo Pieraccioni,Massimo Ceccherini, Antonio Rezza and Antonello De Leo, and moved both toLos Angeles,U.S.andMadrid,Spainto improve her English and Spanish, respectively. InSpainshe starred inDesafinadoby M. G. Pereira andLa playa de Los Galagosby M. Camus.
