Daniel A. Haskett[1](born August 20, 1952) is an American veterananimatorwho, according toVariety,was one of a "group of young animators trained byDisney's 'Nine Old Men'that were confined to one small room in the Disney Feature Animation Building in the 1970s. "[2][3]

Career
editHe started his career in 1969 when he graduated from theHigh School of Art and Design,and the first thing he did was a commercial for a coffee called Brim. According to Haskett, the commercial was "very psychedelic".[4][5]
Haskett was worried when he first entered the company in 1977 due to Disney's reputation at that time.[6]
He designed the characterBelleforDisney’sBeauty and the Beast,as well asArielforThe Little Mermaid,[7]and Tod as an adult forThe Fox and the Hound.Haskett also did earlier designs forUrsula;some were inspired by singerPatti LaBelle,and the character's hair almost looked like fins.[7]
Haskett was the main designer of the charactersMinerva MinkforSteven Spielberg'sAnimaniacsandRadio AAHS's mascot disc jockeysOzzieandKazoo.Haskett also has credits forTom and Jerry: The Movie,Toy Story,The Pagemaster,The Prince of Egypt,Sesame StreetandThe Simpsons.
He has been drawing characters forLooney Tunessince 1979 and has recently worked as a character designer for the web seriesLooney Tunes Cartoons.[8]
