Daniel H. Jenkins(born January 17, 1963) is an Americanactor,best known for his stage work onBroadway,including his 1985 role asHuckleberry FinninRoger Miller'sBig River,for which he was nominated for aTony Award.

Jenkins was born to actorsKen Jenkinsand Joan Patchen. He acted in high school plays and community theatre, before enrolling in the apprentice program atActors Theatre of Louisville.In 1986, Jenkins and his father both appeared together onBroadwayin the musicalBig River.[1]

Career

Jenkins was nominated for aTony Awardin 1985 for his role asHuckleberry FinninBig River,[2]his Broadway debut. In 2003, he performed in the Tony nominated "Deaf West" signed revival ofBig River,this time portrayingMark Twainand also performing as the voice for signed character Huckleberry Finn.[3]Jenkins has had notable performances in several other Broadway musicals, includingMary Poppins,Billy Elliot,andBig The Musical.

On screen, Jenkins played O.C. inRobert Altman's filmO.C. and Stiggs,shot in 1983 but not released until 1987.[4]He again worked with Altman in his 1988 miniseriesTanner '88.On HBO he appeared on the cable channel's adventure filmFlorida Straitscostarring alongsideRaul JuliaandFred Ward.Other notable appearances include:The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial (TV Movie),Cradle Will Rock,The Good Wife,Veep,andOrange Is The New Black.

In October 2008, Jenkins, along withRobert Stanton,wrote and performed in the playLove Childat Primary Stages and thenNew World Stagesin New York City.
