Penn was born on April 13, 1991, inLos Angeles,Californiato actor-directorSean Pennand actressRobin Wright.[3][4]Wright had surrendered the role ofMaid MarianinRobin Hood: Prince of Thievesdue to her pregnancy with Dylan.[5]Penn was raised inRoss,a town inMarin County, California.[6]She has a younger brother namedHopper Jack.[7]Her paternal grandfatherLeo Pennis ofRussian-JewishandLithuanian-Jewishdescent, whereas her paternal grandmotherEileen RyanisCatholicand ofIrishandItaliandescent.

She attendedMarin Academy,[8]and dropped out of theUniversity of Southern Californiaafter one semester.[9]She spent time living inNew York City.[10]Her parents' divorce was finalized in 2010.[11]Before modeling, Penn had worked delivering pizzas, as a waitress, and as a freelance screenplay editor.[12]She also worked in New York City as arestaurant hostessand aninternat an advertising agency.[13]

Penn's first modeling billboards were forGapin 2013.[14]Then she appeared inGQin December 2013,[15]inWin January 2014,[16]andEllein March 2014.[13]

Penn posed for photographerTony Duranfor a partially nude cover and an interior layout[17]in the seventh, 2014 Spring/Summer, issue of theeroticaandfine artsmagazinetreats!,released in April 2014. Penn said, "I have always loved his black and white nudes, they were always so tastefully done and, more specifically, showed that certain elegant yet strong beauty that I think all women embody".[18][9]Within weeks of the issue's release, Penn signed a new modeling contract with Premier Model Management to represent her in the United Kingdom.[14][19]

Penn's first film was the horror movieCondemned,directed by Eli Morgan Gesner, in which she played the girlfriend of a band member living in a rundown building.[31]The film opened onFriday the 13thin November 2015.[32]Another early role was inElvis & Nixon,which starsKevin Spacey.[33]The movie was presented in at least one spring film festival and was released in April 2016.[34][35]In November 2015, it was announced that she had booked roles in a pair ofindependent films:GenRXandUnfiltered.[36]In 2021, she co-starred with her father in the filmFlag Day,which he also directed.[37]
