Edward Robert Bluemel(born 22 May 1993) is an English actor. He is best known for his roles in theSky OneseriesA Discovery of Witches(2018–2022), the BBC thrillerKilling Eve(2019–2022), and theAmazon PrimeseriesMy Lady Jane(2024).

Early life and education
editBluemel was born inTunbridge Wells,Kent.[1]He attendedTaunton Schoolin Somerset, where his parents Martin and Jane taught Chemistry and Physics respectively.[2]He has two siblings, a sister named Phyllida and an elder brother named Ben.[3]Bluemel was 11 when he first got into acting through a school play[4]and 17 when he decided to pursue it professionally.[5]He took a year-long foundation course atRADA[6]before going on to graduate from theRoyal Welsh College of Music & Dramain 2015 with aBachelor of Artsin Acting.[7]During his time at drama school, Bluemel was flatmates withJacob Ifan.[8]
Career
editIn 2017, Bluemel made hisWest Enddebut inLove In Idlenessat theMenier Chocolate FactoryandApollo Theatre,as well as his feature film debut inAccess All Areas,[9]and had his first main television role as Toby Hamilton in theITVwar dramaThe Halcyon.[10]He also appeared inTouchat theSoho Theatre.[11]
The following year, Bluemel began starring as Marcus Whitmore in theSky Onefantasy seriesA Discovery of Witches,an adaptation ofthe book of the same namebyDeborah Harkness.[12][13]He also appeared in the filmThe Commuter.In 2019, he had a recurring role as Maeve Wiley's (Emma Mackey) brother Sean in theNetflixcomedy-dramaSex Education[14]and joined the main cast of the BBC thrillerKilling Evefor its second series as Hugo.[15][16]
Bluemel played Captain Harville in the 2022NetflixfilmPersuasion[17]and Luke Nightingale in theAmazon PrimeseriesTen Percent.He has upcoming roles in theMGM+seriesBelgravia: The Next Chapterand theAmazon Primeadaptation ofMy Lady Jane.[18]
Personal life
editOn the side, Bluemel enjoyslo-fi musicand football as hobbies. He also has an interest in fish.[19][20]As of 2019, he lived inTooting Bec,South London.[21]Bluemel was dating comedian and internet personality Mary Beth Barone until mid-2024.
