Erik Reitz(born July 29, 1982) is an American former professionalice hockeyplayer, known as anenforcer,who played in theNational Hockey League(NHL) with theMinnesota Wildand theNew York Rangers.

Playing career
editReitz was drafted 170th overall in the2000 NHL Entry Draftby theMinnesota Wildfrom theBarrie Coltsof theOntario Hockey League.He plays defense, and has also spent six seasons with theHouston Aerosof theAmerican Hockey League(AHL). He made his NHL debut with the Wild in the2005–06season, playing in 5 games.
Reitz made the Wild roster for the2008–09season and played in 31 games before he was traded by the Wild to theNew York Rangersin exchange forDan Fritscheon January 29, 2009.[1]After 11 games with the Rangers, Erik was claimed off waivers by theToronto Maple Leafson March 4, 2009.[2]Reitz never debuted for the Leafs after suffering a season-ending ankle injury on March 7, 2009.
On August 22, 2009, Reitz signed withSibir Novosibirskof the KHL.[3]After a single season in Russia, Reitz left to sign a one-year contract forEC Red Bull Salzburgof Austria on November 10, 2010.[4]Lacking match conditioning, Reitz trained with Salzburg for under a month before he was released without making his debut. Reitz returned to Salzburg the following2011–12season, appearing in 19 games for 1 assist before he was mutually released from his contract on January 30, 2012.
