Fabrizio Marrella,born inVenice, Italy,is Professor of International Law and of International Business Law at theUniversity of Venice.In 2008, he was appointed as the E.MA Programme Director at theEuropean Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation(EIUC) where he was a member of the Board of Directors.
Education
editMarrella holds doctorates in Law fromPantheon-Sorbonne UniversityandUniversity of Bologna Law School.He also holds the Certificate as well as the Diploma ofThe Hague Academy of International Law(1998). He was awarded, on the base of merit, two scholarships: one from the University of Bologna and another one from theNational Research Council (C.N.R.) of Italy.[1]
Career
editMarrella has an extensive background in international law.[1]He was invited to deliver a course at theHague Academy of International Lawin 2013. He specializes in International Economic Law and focuses primarily on international commercialcontractsand investmentarbitrationalso in connection with newhuman rightsissues.
Marrella is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Italian.[1]
Past academic positions
editIn 2006, Marrella was appointedprofesseur invitéat theUniversity of Strasbourg(France). In 2007 and 2008, Prof. Marrella has served as vice-Director of theHarvard University-Venice program where he taught International Business Law. He was formerly Adjunct Professor of International Business Law at the IHEAL (Institute for Advanced Studies on Latin America) of theUniversity of Paris III: Sorbonne Nouvelleand lecturer at theParis Institute of Comparative Law(Panthéon-Assas University). Marrella also served as co-Director for theWake Forest University School of LawComparative Law Program in Venice.[citation needed]
Marrella taught "The international Arbitral Process",Vanderbilt University Law School;International Business Transactions (Widener International Law Summer Institute); Derecho del comercio internacional (taught in Spanish) in theUniversidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico.
