A balddwarfwho flies around on a jet pack, Gizmo is a genius inventor who can turn seemingly innocuous objects like vacuum cleaners into dangerous weapons.[2]Gizmo creates a corporation which supplies technology to various people, including criminals. Hoping to increase his wealth, Gizmo joins the Fearsome Five through an ad placed in theUnderworld StarbyDoctor Light.[3]

After several unsuccessful conflicts with the Teen Titans, Gizmo goes straight for a while, and takes a job atS.T.A.R. Labs,[1]until his former Fearsome Five teammatePsimon,after having been seemingly killed by his teammates, resurfaces looking for revenge, and shrinks Gizmo to microscopic size. Years later, Gizmo returns to his normal size and goes back to crime alongsideMammoth.

InOutsiders(vol. 3) #12–15 (July–October 2004),Captain MarvelenemyDoctor Sivanahires the Fearsome Five to steal money fromLexCorp.However, Sivana kills Gizmo after refusing to follow his demands.[1]Gizmo later returns as a zombie inTeen Titans(vol. 3) #31 (2006).

O'Jeneus

InDC Special: Cyborgissue #5, a new Gizmo debuts who is the son of the first and is based on theTeen Titansanimated series incarnation of the character.[1]After graduating from theH.I.V.E Academy,he succeeds his father as Gizmo.

The New 52

InThe New 52timeline, a version of Gizmo first appears as a member of theFearsome Fiveand ally of theCrime Syndicate.[4]He is sent with the other members of the Fearsome Five, along withDoctor PsychoandHector Hammond,on a mission in which he is defeated by Cyborg and theMetal Men.

DC Rebirth

InDC Rebirth,Gizmo appears as part of the Fearsome Five.[5]

Another using the name,Brendan Li,known asGiz,is a former villain and friend ofNightwing.He is later killed while attempting to hack into aSpyralgauntlet, which electrocutes him.

Powers and abilities

Gizmo is capable of creating weaponry by transforming one machine into another, such as converting an ordinary vacuum cleaner into a tank.[1]
