Sir Henry Brian Globe(born 18 June 1949), styledThe Hon Mr Justice Globe,is a British judge andbarrister.Since 2011, he has been ajudgeof theKing’s Benchin theHigh Court.From 2003 to 2011, he served as theRecorder of Liverpool.

Early life and education

Henry Brian Globe was born on 18 June 1949 to Theodore Montague Globe and Irene Rita Globe.[1]

He was educated atLiverpool College,then aprivate schoolinLiverpool,England.[2]He studied law at theUniversity of Birminghamand graduated with aBachelor of Laws(LLB) degree.[1]

On 20 July 1972, Globe wascalled to the Barby theMiddle Temple.[3]He took silk in 1994 to become aQueen's Counsel.[4]He was involved in legal practice inLiverpoolfor nearly 40 years.[5]

Judiciary

In 2003, Globe was appointed aSenior Circuit Judgeand theRecorder of Liverpool.[2][6]On 3 October 2011, he was appointed aJudgeof theHigh Court of Justiceand assigned to theQueen's Bench Division.[4]From 2013 to 2016, he was thePresiding Judgeof the North East Circuit.[3]Globe retired from the bench on 4 November 2017.[7]

Personal life

In 1972, Globe married Estelle Levin.[1]Together, they have two daughters.[1]

Honours

In July 2013, Globe was appointed anhonorary fellowofLiverpool John Moores University"for his outstanding contribution to the legal profession over the last 40 years, much of which has been spent in legal practice in and around Liverpool".[8][5]In July 2015, he was awarded anhonoraryDoctor of Laws(LLD) degree by theUniversity of Liverpool.[1][9]
