Early life and education
editSoller was born on July 1, 1983,[1]inBridgeport, Connecticut,and raised inAlexandria, Virginia.[2]He attendedMount Vernon High Schoolbefore going on to study art history theCollege of William & MaryinWilliamsburg, Virginia.[2]During his third year of studies, he spent a semester abroad studying at theRoyal Academy of Dramatic Art(RADA) in London,[3]and was offered admission into the academy.[2]Soller left the College of William & Mary and relocated to London to complete his studies at RADA,[2]graduating in 2008 with a BA in Acting Degree (H Level).[4]

editSoller's breakthrough year came in 2011 where he starred inThe Glass Menagerieat theYoung Vic,The Government Inspectoralso at the Young Vic and inThe Faith Machineat theRoyal Court Theatre.Based on these performances he won theEvening StandardTheatre Awardfor Outstanding Newcomer.[5]
In 2012, Soller starred in the West End hitLong Day's Journey into NightbyEugene O'NeillwithDavid Suchet,Laurie MetcalfandTrevor Whiteat theApollo Theatre,and in the Roundabout Theatre Company's production ofCyrano de Bergeracas Christian at theAmerican Airlines Theatrein New York.[6]In 2019, he won theLaurence Olivier Award for Best Actorfor his performance inThe Inheritance,staged at The Young Vic.[7]

editSoller appeared inBBC Three's comedyBad Educationas the new teacher Mr Schwimer.[8]Between 2015 and 2016, he appeared inBBC One'sPoldark,playing Ross Poldark's cousin, Francis[9]and inThe Hollow Crown,in the role ofClifford.[9]He starred as an expert on apocalypses, Scotty, inSky 1's comedy dramaYou, Me and the Apocalypse.[9]In 2015, he appeared as Gerald Croft inHelen Edmundson's award-winning BBC adaptation ofAn Inspector Calls.[10]
In 2022, he appeared in theDisney+showAndor.[9]In 2023, he played a main role as 19th century Detective Inspector Hillinghead inBodies.[11]
