Loring W. Tu( đỗ võ lượng,[1]Wade–Giles:Tu Wu-liang) is a Taiwanese-American mathematician working inalgebraic topologyandgeometry.[2]

Life

He was born inTaipei, Taiwan.He is the grandson of Taiwanese pharmacologistTu Tsung-ming.[3]He is a younger brother of Charles Tu, who is a professor of electrical and computer engineering (ECE) at theUniversity of California, San Diego.[4][5]

He currently works atTufts University.[2]

Career

He attendedMcGill UniversityandPrinceton Universityas an undergraduate. He completed his Ph.D. atHarvard University.His doctoral advisor wasPhillip A. Griffiths.His dissertation thesis was titledHodge Theory and the Local Torelli Problem.[6]

He is currently a professor of mathematics atTufts University.[6]

He has frequently collaborated withRaoul Bott.
