Chapman was born inTacoma, Washington,and has a BA from theEvergreen State Collegeand an MFA in Fiction fromSyracuse University.[1]She is currently a PhD candidate and Schaeffer Fellow in Fiction at theUniversity of Nevada, Las Vegas.Her first novelYour presence is requested at Suvantowas published byGraywolf Pressin 2010 and was short-listed for theGuardian First Book Award.Her stories have appeared inA Public Space,Literary Review,theMississippi Review,andPost Road.[2]
