Charles Henry Turner(February 3, 1867 – February 14, 1923) was an Americanzoologist,entomologist,educator, andcomparative psychologist,known for his studies on the behavior of insects, particularly bees and ants. Born inCincinnati,Turner was the firstAfrican Americanto receive a graduate degree at theUniversity of Cincinnatiand among the first African Americans to earn a PhD from theUniversity of Chicago.He spent most of his career as a high-school teacher atSumner High Schoolin St. Louis.
