Mark A. Bedauis an Americanphilosopherwho works in the field ofartificial life.He is the son of the philosopherHugo Bedau(1926–2012). Mark Bedau earned his B.A. in philosophy atReed Collegein 1977, and his Ph.D. in Philosophy fromU.C. Berkeleyin 1985.[1]

Bedau currently teaches at Reed College. He is also the co-founder of theEuropean Center for Living Technology(ECLT)[2]and Visiting Professor, Ph.D. Program in Life Sciences: Foundations and Ethics, European School of Molecular Medicine.[3]Bedau is also the editor of theArtificial Life Journal.[4]

He has been the COO ofProtolife,a biotechnology start-up based inVenice, Italy.[5]
