Mark Anthony McDermottis an Irishrugby unionplayer and coach. As of 2019, he was a coach withRussia's national rugby union team.[2]

He played as hooker for Leinster (4 apps inHeineken Cup) and Munster (12 apps in Heineken Cup);[3]and, at the Irish senior level, forLansdowne FCandShannon RFC.[4][5][6]He also played forIreland second national team.[7]

McDermott was forwards coach forSt. Michael's College, Dublinleading to the school's firstLeinster Schools Senior Cupwin in 2007.[8][9]

He worked with Ireland U21 team as assistant coach,[10]then from May 2004 as coach.[11][12]He was also IRFU's Elite Player Development Manager.[citation needed]

From August 2016 to February 2018, McDermott was forwards coach in the Russia national team. In February 2018, after Aleksandr Pervukhin resigned, he was appointed the acting head coach of Russia.[13]Subsequently replaced as coach byLyn Jones,McDermott continued to hold a number of roles with theRugby Union of Russiauntil 2021.[14]
