Matthew Ian Gravelle(born 24 September 1976) is a Welsh screen actor.[2]

Career
editGravelle was born inPorthcawl.In 2003, Gravelle appeared in theBBC Onedrama seriesHolby Cityand was a regular in the acclaimedBBC WalesshowBelongingfor two series. His other TV appearances includeCasualty,CaerdyddandJudge John Deed.He appeared in "End of Days",the first series finale ofTorchwood,as a medical doctor dealing with cases of theBlack Death.[3]He later provided voice acting for theTorchwoodRadio Play "The Dead Line"which broadcast on BBCRadio Fourin July 2009.
From 2007, he played the lead character of gangster Lyn Edwards in the Welsh-language television seriesY Pris,dubbed "'The Sopranos' by the sea".[4]The role earned him aBAFTA Cymrunomination for best actor in 2010.[5]
Gravelle starred in the 2010 filmPatagoniaand then in theBBC WalesseriesBaker Boysas Rob, the co-manager of Valley Bara and the fiancée of Sarah (Eve Myles). In 2013, he was cast in the hitITVcrime dramaBroadchurchas Joe Miller, husband ofOlivia Colman's character.[6]Later that year he guest-starred in the Welsh detective dramaY Gwyll,in which his real-life wifeMali Harriesstars. He also starred with Harries inKeeping Faith/Un Bore Mercher(2017), where they played a married couple.[7]In 2021 Gravelle Played the role of DI Nathan Eason in Manhunt season 2.

editGravelle is married to fellow Welsh performerMali Harries.The couple have played each other's on-screen significant other in several TV shows.[8]
In 2009,The Western Maillisted him as the 24th sexiest man in Wales.[2]
