Megalodonis an extinct genus ofbivalvemolluscsthat reportedly lived from theDevonianto theJurassicperiod.[1]It is not clear, however, that all the fossils assigned toMegalodonfrom that span of time really belong in the same genus. Jurassic relatives ofMegalodonsuch asPachyrisma grandewere closely related to therudists.[2]
