Muhammad Khan Achakzai

Muhammad Khan Achakzai(Pashto:محمد خان اڅکزیMuḥammad Xān Aćakzaī;Urdu:محمد خان اچکزئی,born 1 January 1930) is aPakistanipolitician who served as the 23rdGovernor of Balochistan.[1]

Early life and education

He’s the son ofAbdul Samad Achakzaiand the elder brother ofMahmood Khan AchakzaiandHamid Khan Achakzai,all famed politicians.[1]

He earned hisBachelor’sfromUniversity of the Punjab,hisMaster’sinEconomicsfrom theUniversity of Strathclydeand his Master’s inPublic Administrationfrom theHarvard University.[2]

He was fluent in Urdu, English, Pashto and Persian.[2]

Academic and professional career

Following his studies he became a Lecturer at the Government College, Quetta and then Associate Professor at theUniversity of Balochistanbefore serving in thePlanning Commission,Islamabad till his retirement.[2]

Political career

He was affiliated with thePakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Partyand hails from the prominent Achakzai political family of Balochistan. Achakzai was appointed as Governor ofBalochistanon 11 June 2013.[1]He resigned from governorship on 6 September 2018.[3]
