Nessaeais a genus ofnymphalidbutterflies found in theNeotropical realm.Unlike virtually all other butterflies with blue coloration, the blue colors in this genus are due topigmentation[pterobilin (biliverdin IXγ)][2]rather thaniridescence(e.g.,Morphospecies).
