History
editBuilt in 1991, it was opened in 1992 with a basketball game betweenCataloniaandCroatia;where Croatians won by 118-82 led with 30 points ofToni Kukočand 21 points ofDražen Petrović.[1]
The arena hosted thebasketballtournament of the1992 Summer Olympics,the1992 Olympic Basketball Tournament.It was designed by the architectsEsteve BonellandFrancesc Rius,who won the 1992European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecturefor this building.
It is also the home arena ofJoventut de Badalona,one of the most important professionalbasketballsquads inSpain.Before the Pavelló Olímpic was built, the now 3,300 capacityPavelló Club Joventut Badalonahosted the city basketball games and most of the other indoor sports.
