History
editDescription
editThe viruses in this family are the second largest known virus (~1micrometer) incapsidlength, afterPithovirus(1.5micrometer).[3]Pandoravirushas the largest viralgenomeknown, containing double-strandedDNAof 1.9 to 2.5megabasepairs.[4][1]
Evolution
editThese viruses appear to be related to thephycodnaviruses.[5][citation needed]
