Payam (administrative division)

Apayamis the second-lowestadministrative division,below counties,[1]in South Sudan. Payams are required to have a minimum population of 25,000. The unit of administration was introduced by the SPLM/A[2]and formalized at theNational Convention of New Sudan.[3]The equivalent unit in neighboringKenyaandUgandais sub-county.[citation needed]
