Dean played 16-year-old temptress Delores Purdy inNorman Jewison's 1967 hit filmIn the Heat of the Night,starringSidney Poitier,for which she was nominated for aGolden Globefor Best Supporting Actress.[1]Her acting career ended in 1969.

Death

At the age of 58, she died of cancer in Los Angeles, California. Her remains werecremated,and her ashes were scattered in thePacific Ocean.[citation needed]

Legacy

The Ballad of Quentin Deanwas recorded by Steve Hart and the Cadillac Angels in January 2014.[2][3]
