Richard Rodgers Sr.(born October 28, 1961) is anAmerican footballcoach and formerArena Football League(AFL) player. He is the father of NFL tight endRichard Rodgerswho is known for theMiracle in Motown.[1]He began coaching as soon as he retired from the AFL as a player.[2]Rodgers coached at the college level for 24 seasons before joining the NFL ranks in 2012. In 2014 he was part of thePro Bowlstaff and the following year, Rodgers coached inSuper Bowl 50with theNFC ChampionCarolina Panthers. Rodgers is also known for being a part of "The Play"againstStanford,when he was acollege footballdefensive backfor theCalifornia Golden Bearsand earned all-conference honors.
