Robert M. Bowman Jr.

Robert M. Bowman Jr.(born August 10, 1957) is an AmericanEvangelicalChristiantheologianspecializing in the study ofapologetics.

Biography

Bowman received theM.A.inBiblical StudiesandTheologyfromFuller Theological Seminaryin 1981, diddoctoral studiesinChristian ApologeticsatWestminster Theological Seminary,and earned his Ph.D. in Biblical Studies in 2015 at theSouth African Theological Seminary.^[1]^[2]From 2006 to 2008 he was manager of Apologetics and Interfaith Evangelism for theNorth American Mission Board(based inAlpharetta, Georgia), an agency of theSouthern Baptist Convention.^[3]From 2008 to 2018 he served as the executive director of theInstitute for Religious Research,an independent, evangelical nonprofit organization (formerly located inGrand Rapids,now based inCedar Springs, Michigan). In 2022 he rejoined the staff and became the organization's president.^[4]

Writings

Bowman is the author of over sixty articles and of fifteen books. Five of those books he co-authored with Kenneth D. Boa, anOxford-trained scholar; two of these books (An Unchanging Faith in a Changing WorldandFaith Has Its Reasons) won theGold Medallion Book Award.^[5]Four of his earliest books were theological critiques of the teachings ofJehovah's Witnesses.
