Saravali(Greek:Σαράβαλι) is an important village and community in the municipal unit ofMessatida,Patras,Achaea,Greece.The community is located at the southeastern edge of the agglomeration ofPatras.The community consists of the villages Saravali, Agios Stefanos,Demenika(the largest village), Kefalovryso and Bakari. Saravali is 6 km south ofPatrascity centre. Adjacent communities arePetrototo the east, Patras to the north,Ovriato the west andKrinito the south. TheGreek National Road 9(Patras - Pyrgos) runs through the community.

History
editThe castle of Saravali was built by theFranksin the 13th century. An important battle of theGreek War of Independencetook place at Saravali in 1822 between theOttomans,who held the fortified city Patras, and the Greek independence fighters led byTheodoros Kolokotronis.Every year, the commemoration of the battle is celebrated.
