The two telenovelas made byPol-Kaat the beginning of 2012,Loboand the second season ofLos únicos,were cancelled because of poor ratings.Graduados,a fiction aired in the rival channelTelefe,became a huge success. As a result, Pol-Ka rushed the creation of a new telenovela,Sos mi hombre,that filled the timeslot ofLobo.The main actors wereLuciano CastroandCeleste Cid.[1]AlthoughSos mi hombredid not prevail againstGraduadoseither, it had better rating than the previous telenovelas.[2]The last episode had 12,8 rating points.[3]

The program was nominated for the 2013 edition of theMartín Fierro Awards,as best daily fiction. Other nominations are: Luciano Castro as best lead actor of daily fiction, Celeste Cid as lead actress in fiction,Osvaldo Laportas best guest star,Joaquín Furrielas secondary actor in daily fiction, andEugenia Tobalas secondary actress in daily fiction.[4]

Controversy

The writer Adriana Lorenzón (who wroteEl elegido,Por amor a vosandLos Roldán) and the actorPepe Monjeaccused the program of being similar to another one they wrote 2 years before. Their program, called "Fuego en tu boca" (Spanish:Fire in your mouth), only had apilot episodeand was never aired. The plot was about a boxer from theLa Bocaneighbourhood, who also works as a firefighter. ActorsJuan Palomino,Maximiliano Guerra,Chechu Bonelli,Jorgelina AruzziandLuís Machínworked in that production as well.[5]

The TV channelEl Trecereplied that the main idea of the telenovela had already been proposed to actorFacundo Aranain 2004, predating both series. The portrayal of the world of box is also similar to previous productions fromPol-Ka,such asCampeones.[5]

Plot

Ringo is a retired boxer, facing economic problems and trying to gain the child custody of his son. He works as a volunteer firefighter. Camila is a young doctor, who works in public hospitals and helps in social diners.
