Susan Shwartz(born December 31, 1949) is an American author.[1]

editShe received her B.A. in English fromMount Holyoke Collegein 1972 and a PhD in English fromHarvard University.[1]
Shwartz'sHeirs to Byzantiumtrilogy –Byzantium's Crown(1987),The Woman of Flowers(1987) andQueensblade(1988) is analternate historyseries. The Heirs to Byzantium novels are set in a world whereMarc AntonydefeatsOctaviusin theBattle of Actium,and joins withCleopatrato make Byzantium capital of the Roman Empire.[1]
Shwartz's novelThe Grail of Hearts(1992) is a fantasy that features theHoly Grail.It also features a sympathetic version of Kundry fromRichard Wagner's operaParsifal;Shwart's Kundry is depicted as a version of theWandering Jew.[1]
Shwartz has published several novels and sixty short stories.
