Tanya Haden Black(born October 11, 1971) is an American artist, musician, and singer. She is one of thetriplet daughtersof jazz bassistCharlie Hadenand Ellen David.[1]She is married to entertainerJack Black.

Career
editBorn inNew York City,she was a member of several bands, includingLet's Go Sailing,and is the creator of the Imaginary Bear puppet show. Haden has contributed to recordings of a number ofLos Angelesmusicians, including vocals and cello onPar Avion's EP,Pop Music United.Her father is thejazzdouble bassistCharlie Haden.Haden is the triplet sister of bassistRachel HadenandviolinistPetra Haden,and the three have performed asthe Haden Triplets.[2]Their brother is bassist-singerJosh Haden,leader of the groupSpain.[3]
She received her MFA degree fromCalifornia Institute of the Arts,where she majored in experimental animation.[4]She continues her work in visual art and has exhibited in several shows including one at the Las Cienegas Projects in 2010.[5]In 2015, Haden was picked up byRosamund Felsen Gallerywhere she had a one-artist exhibition showing drawings.[6]
Haden plays cello extensively in the Los Angeles area including performing as an additional member of the bandSilversun Pickups.She also plays the cello on theirPikulEP, which was released in 2005.[4]Haden has also recorded with the Los Angeles indie folk bandSea Wolf[7]and played cello on Los Angeles based rock bandThe WarlocksalbumSurgeryin 2005.[8]
Tanya, with her sistersPetraandRachel,known asThe Haden Triplets,released their first album on February 4, 2014.[9][10]The album includes the sisters singing in harmony.[11]The record was produced byRy Cooderand also features the sisters on their respective instruments.[9]The album is being released onThird Man Recordswhich was founded by musicianJack White.[12]
Personal life
editHaden met actorJack Blackwhen they were students atCrossroads School,a private high school inSanta Monica.Although the two attended the private high school together, they did not begin dating until spring 2005. The two married on March 14, 2006, inBig Sur, California.[13]She gave birth to their first son on June 10, 2006, atCedars-Sinai Medical CenterinLos Angeles.[14]Their second son was born on May 23, 2008.[citation needed]
According to Aaron Freeman (Gene Ween), theWeensong "Stay Forever" was written for Haden.[15]
