TheUfo(lit.UFO) was the firstacid houseclub inBerlin.It is considered a pioneering place for thetechnoscene during thereunification of Germany.[1][2][3]Residents and guestDJsat the club included, among others,Tanith,Jonzon,Rok,Dr. Motte,Mike van Dijk[4]and the then 13-year-oldKid Paul.[5]

The techno activistsAchim Kohlenberger,Dimitri Hegemannand the former history studentCarola Stoiber,[6]founded the Ufo club in 1988 inWest Berlin,in its first year it was located at the No. 6Köpenicker Straße,inKreuzberg,[7]nearSchlesisches Torin the basement of an old residential building,[8]that their electronic music label Interfisch had rented as headquarters.[9]Originally they opened the club with the nameFischbüro'.[10]

The basement room had a ladder for access and an improvised kitchen on the side of the building,[8]it had a ceiling height of only about 6 ft 2.8in (1.90 meters) of space for up 100 people.[11]In 1989, it hosted the after party celebration of the firstLove Parade.

As the authorities discovered the club's illegal operation of acid house parties,[3]the club moved and finally worked inside a former store building at theGroßgörschenstraßeinSchöneberg,just before the fall of the Wall in 1989.[12]In the meantime, Ufo parties were set up in different places and the locations were usually given in hidden clues in the Saturday showThe Big Beathosted by Monika Dietl, from theSFB- teen radio stationRadio 4U.[2][5]In January 1990 the DJTanithestablished, his Wednesday regular showCyberspace.[13]

After the club closed in 1990, the owners opened in the following year theTresorclub[14]which became one of the world's most famoustechnoclubs.[10]
