Vincent Chancey(born February 4, 1950)[1]is an Americanjazzhornist.

Early life and education

Chancey was born and raised inChicago.[2]He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from theSIUC School of Musicin 1973 and studied underJulius WatkinsinNew York City.[3]

Career

Chancey began playing professionally in the 1970s, mostly with large ensembles such as theSun Ra Arkestra,Lester Bowie's Brass Fantasy,David MurrayBig Band,Carla BleyBig Band, and theRichard Abramsorchestra. He later performed and recorded with the Mingus Orchestra,Dave Douglas,Wayne Shorter,Herbie Hancock,Shirley Horn,Diana Krall,Elvis Costello,Mose Allison,Aretha Franklin,andCassandra Wilson.[4]
