Blurb queries

edit

Hi Gog andPM,I have two questions/suggestions re blurb...

  • "T2 was a torpedo boat of the Royal Yugoslav Navy commissioned on 11 August 1914. Originally a 250t-class torpedo boat of the Austro-Hungarian Navy, she saw active service during World War I,..." - that commissioning date is for the ship when she was of the Austro-Hungarian Navy named 77 T. She wasn't acquired by Kingdom of Y until 1921, and commissioned into RYN until 1923... and...
"and was renamed T2" - we haven't mentioned original name
Suggest something like:
'T2 was a torpedo boat of the Royal Yugoslav Navy. Originally a 250t-class torpedo boat of the Austro-Hungarian Navy, commissioned on 11 August 1914 as 77 T, she saw active service during World War I,... '
  • "Following Austria-Hungary's defeat in 1918, the boat was allocated to the Navy of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, which later became the Royal Yugoslav Navy, and was renamed T2."
Ibox suggests new name of T2 on acquisition 1921. Article has "Taken over in March 1921 when French forces withdrew,[47][48] in KM service, 77 was renamed T2.[4]" - PM, was she renamed in that year 1921 or not until commissioned 1923? Either way, not renamed in 1918?
Suggest something more like:
'Following Austria-Hungary's defeat in 1918, the boat was allocated to the Navy of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, whichlaterbecame the Royal Yugoslav Navy, andshewaslaterrenamed T2.'...or
'Following Austria-Hungary's defeat in 1918, the boat was allocated to the Navy of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, whichlaterbecame the Royal Yugoslav Navyin 1921,andshewas renamed T2.'

Hope this makes sense.JennyOz(talk)01:50, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
