Yang Dacai(Chinese:Dương đạt tài;pinyin:Yáng Dácái) is a Chinese former politician. He was the head of theShaanxiprovince work safety administration[1]when aviralphoto of him at the scene of theShaanxi bus–tanker crashshowed him wearing aluxurytimepiececaused a public outcry againstcorruption in China.[2]Chinese netizens found images of Yang onXina Weibowearing at least 10 different watches.[3]TheXi'anIntermediate People's Court issued a prison sentence of 14 years for takingbribesand possessing assets of unclear origin.[4]Since Yang was smiling in the original photo and in images taken during his sentencing, he became known as the "smiling official" (Chinese:Vi tiếu cục trường) as well as 'Brother Watch' (Chinese:Biểu ca).[5]
