Big gaps: C5, C8, maybe Mamluk fort, etc.

edit

We have a very sketchy timeline, after the Byz. period it looks like a Swiss cheese. There's only so much written sources can do, we need archaeological sources.

When was there a settlement there? The C4 quake destroys much of the city, but there are sources about C5 Church officials. Then 300 yrs of quiet. The 750 episode doesn't necessitate a settlement, the water would do. "Maybe a Mamluk fort" doesn't even imply a settlement. The same is true about the Ottoman fort, but it's quite large by itself.

Malaria was probably a huge impediment. Arminden (talk) 07:56, 8 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
