Francesco Musotto(born 1 February 1947 inPalermo) was anItalianpoliticianandMember of the European Parliamentfor theIslands(elected for the first time in1999). He is the son ofGiovanni Musotto,a notable professor in criminal law at theUniversity of Palermoand memberItalian Socialist Party(Italian:Partito Socialista Italiano,PSI).[citation needed]
Francesco Musotto, a former member of the PSI like his father, is currently withForza Italia(part of theEuropean People's Party), sits on theEuropean Parliament'sCommittee on Regional Development,is a substitute for theCommittee on Fisheries,and of theCommittee on Transport and Tourism.He was President of theProvince of Palermofrom 1994 to 1995 and from 1998 to 2008.[citation needed]
Career
editHegraduatedinlawin 1969, worked as alawyerfrom 1974, and as a farmer from 1996. Musotto earned a seconddiplomainagriculturein 1998.
Between 1972 and 1975, he served asMunicipal CouncillorforCefalù,and is Chairman of thePalermo Provincial Councilsince 1998. He was a member of the Sicilian Regional Assembly in 1983–1986.
