The10th Empire Awardsceremony (officially known as theSony Ericsson Empire Awards), presented by the Britishfilm magazineEmpire,honored the bestfilms of 2004and took place on 13 March 2005 at theGuildhallinLondon,England.[1][2][4]During the ceremony,EmpirepresentedEmpire Awardsin 10 categories as well as four honorary awards. The honorary Outstanding Contribution to British Cinema award was first introduced this year. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the award ceremonies a special honorary award was presented, theIcon of the Decadeaward. The awards forBest British Actor,Best British ActressandBest British Directoras well as the honorary Independent Spirit award were presented for the last time. This was the first year the Lifetime Achievement Award was not presented. The ceremony was televised in the United Kingdom byChannel 5on 15 March.[3][4]Englishtelevision presenterandradio presenterJohnny Vaughanhosted the show for the first time.[1][3][4]The awards were sponsored bySony Ericssonfor the third consecutive year.[5]
