The1984 United States presidential election in Californiatook place on November 6, 1984, as part of the1984 United States presidential election.State voters chose 47 representatives, or electors, to theElectoral College,who voted forpresidentandvice president.Californiavoted for theRepublicanincumbentand former California Governor,Ronald Reagan,in a landslide over theDemocraticchallenger, formerMinnesotaSenatorandVice PresidentWalter Mondale.Reagan easily won his home state with a comfortable 16.24% margin and carried all but five counties. Despite this, California's margin was 1.97% more Democratic than the nation as a whole.

Jesse Jackson's voters were 50% black, 38% white, 7% Hispanic, and 5% were members of other groups. Massachusetts was the only state where black voters composed a smaller percentage of his supporters.[2]
