Alisa Borisovna Efimova(Russian:Алиса Борисовна Ефимова,born 8 June 1999) is an Americanpair skater.With her current partner,Misha Mitrofanov,she is the 2024U.S. nationalsilver medalist and2024 Skate Americabronze medalist.

Personal life
editEfimova was born inKouvola,Finland.[1]Her mother, Marina Shirshova, is figure skating who currently works inLappeenranta,Finland, while her father, Boris Efimov, is a physician. She also has a younger brother named Nikita.[2][3][4]
Efimova ismultilingual,able to communicate in Finnish, Russian, English and German fluently. Additionally, she has also studied French and Swedish. Following the end of her competitive figure skating career, Efimova has expressed interest in pursuing a career in medicine.[4]
Career
editEarly years
editEfimova began learning to skate in 2002 at the age of 2.[1][4]She represented Finland internationally until 2014 when she moved toMoscowand switched fromsinglestopairs.
Partnership with Korovin
edit2016–17 season
editEfimova began competing with her first pair skating partner,Alexander Korovin,in 2014.[5][6]Their international debut came in February 2016 at the Hellmut Seibt Memorial. They won the silver medal, finishing second to Italy'sValentina Marchei/Ondřej Hotárek.
Coached byNatalia PavlovaandAlexander Zaitsevin Moscow,[7]Efimova/Korovin debuted on theGrand Prixseries, placing seventh at the2016 Rostelecom Cupin November. Later that month, the two received the silver medal at the2016 CS Tallinn Trophy,having ranked second in the short program, first in the free skate, and second overall behindAlina Ustimkina/Nikita Volodinof Russia. After placing eighth at the2017 Russian Championships,they took silver at theCup of Tyrolin March 2017.
2017–18 season
editEfimova/Korovin relocated toSaint Petersburgto be coached byOleg VasilievandTamara Moskvina.[8]In September, the pair placed fifth at their season opener, the2017 CS Lombardia Trophyand then won bronze at the2017 CS Ondrej Nepela Trophya week later. In November, they took silver at the2017 CS Tallinn Trophybehind Australia'sEkaterina Alexandrovskaya/Harley Windsor.They had noGrand Prixassignments. They finished ninth at the2018 Russian Championships.
2018–19 season
editIn September, Efimova/Korovin won their first international gold medal at their first event of the season, the2018 CS Nebelhorn Trophy.Ranked fourth in the short program and first in the free skate, they outscored the silver medalists,Alexa Scimeca Knierim/Chris Knierim,by 1.72 points.
Efimova/Korovin competed at two Grand Prix events, the2018 Skate Americaand2018 Rostelecom Cup.In October, Efimova/Korovin won their firstGrand Prixmedal, silver, at the2018 Skate America.Ranked second in the short program and third in the free skate, they won the silver medal behind their teammatesEvgenia Tarasova/Vladimir Morozov.In mid-November, they competed at the2018 Rostelecom Cup,where they finished fifth after placing fourth in the short program and fifth in the free skate.
In early December, Efimova/Korovin won their secondChallenger Seriesgold medal of the season at the2018 CS Golden Spin of Zagreb.Ranked first in the short program and second in the free skate, they again narrowly beatAlexa Scimeca Knierim/Chris Knierim.This time Efimova/Korovin beat them by 1.05 points. At this event, Efimova/Korovin also scored their personal best score of 183.89 points.
At the2019 Russian Championships,Efimova/Korovin placed sixth. They then finished the season by winning gold at the2019 Winter Universiade.
2019–20 season
editBeginning the season on theChallenger series,Efimova/Korovin were seventh at the2019 CS Nebelhorn Trophy,then won the silver medal at the2019 CS Finlandia Trophy.They finished eighth of eight teams at the2019 Cup of China.They placed fourth at the2019 NHK Trophy.[9]
At the2020 Russian Championships,Efimova/Korovin placed fourth in the short program.[10]The free skate was a struggle, with them placing tenth in that segment and dropping to ninth place overall.[11]
The pair parted ways following the season.[12]
Partnership with Bloomaert
edit2021–22 season
editIn 2021, it was announced that Efimova had teamed up withGermanpair skater,Ruben Blommaertand that they would be coached inOberstorfbyFlorian Just.[13][14][15]
They competed at the2021 German Championships,the pair won the silver medal behindMinerva Fabienne Hase/Nolan Seegert.[15]
2022–23 season
editMaking their international debut together, Efimova/Bloomaert won the silver medal at the2022 CS Nebelhorn TrophybehindDeanna Stellato-Dudek/Maxime DeschampsofCanada.They then went on to win another silver medal at the2022 CS Finlandia Trophy.[15]
Competing on theGrand Prixseries, Efimova/Bloomaert competed at2022 Skate Canada International,however, after a hard fall on a throw in the short program, Efimova bruised her thigh and the pair withdrew from the event before the free skate.[16]Going on to compete at the2022 Grand Prix of Espoo,Efimova/Bloomaert won the silver medal behindRebecca Ghilardi/Filippo AmbrosiniofItaly.At the2022 CS Golden Spin of Zagreb,Efimova/Bloomaert finished fifth.[15]
The pair didn't compete at the2023 German Championshipsdue to Bloomaert coming down with a high fever a couple of days before the event.[16]Regardless, they were still selected to compete at the2023 European ChampionshipsinEspoo,Finland,Efimova/Bloomaert placed third in the short program but fifth in the free skate and dropped to fifth place overall.
Going on to compete at the2023 World ChampionshipsinSaitama,Japan,Efimova/Bloomaert placed seventh in the short program and tenth in the free skate, finishing in tenth place overall.[15]
Bloomaert retired from competitive figure skating following the season, citing a lack of funding from the German Skating Union as one of the main reasons.[17]Meanwhile, Efimova expressed her intention to continue competing with a new figure skating partner.[18][16]
Partnership with Mitrofanov
edit2023–24 season
editUpon learning about her split with Blommaert,Americanpair skater,Misha Mitrofanov,who was looking for a new partner, messaged Efimova on Instagram, asking if she would be interested in having a pair skating tryout with him. Efimova then went on to contact Mitrofanov's longtime coaches, Aleksey Letov and Olga Ganicheva, asking if they would be interested in coaching her, to which they agreed. Following a successful tryout, Efimova moved toNorwood, Massachusetts,to train at the Skating Club of Boston with Mitrofanov. It was announced in June 2023 that the pair team would represent theUnited States.[19][20]
Following a silver win at the domestic U.S. Pairs Final, Efimova and Mitrofanov qualified for the2024 U.S. National Championships.[21]At the event, the pair placed fifth in the short program, but won the free skate, allowing them to move up to second place overall.[22]
2024–25 season
editEfimova and Mitrofanov began their season by competing on the2024–25 ISU Challenger Series.They won the silver medal at the2024 CS John Nicks Pairs Competitionbefore going on to finish fourth at the2024 CS Nebelhorn Trophy.[23][24]
Debuting together on the2024–25 Grand Prixseries, the pair won the bronze medal at2024 Skate Americaand finished fourth at the2024 Grand Prix de France.[23][25]
