Amhara Province(Amharic:አማራ) also known asBete Amhara(Amharic:ቤተ አማራ, "House of Amhara" ) was the name of a medieval province of theEthiopian Empire,[1]located in present-dayDebub Wolloand parts ofSemien Shewa.It was named after theAmhara people,who originated from the province.
